Forwardly launched its Developer API on October 27, giving software platforms and financial institutions a way to embed accounts-payable and accounts-receivable workflows inside their own products.

The API supports automated bill capture, approval workflows and multiple payment rails, according to the company. The goal is to let a platform present financial operations in its own user experience rather than send customers to a separate payables application.

Embedded accounts-payable tools can reduce manual data entry and make approval chains easier to track, but they also put data quality, permissions, fraud controls and payment authorization close to the host platform. Developers and institutions need to establish who is responsible for exceptions, duplicate invoices, changed bank details and disputes.

Forwardly did not publish customer-volume forecasts, commercial terms or a universal availability timetable in the launch announcement. The API launch describes infrastructure capabilities, not a guarantee of payment speed, savings or approval for every platform.
