About FinCrunch

FinCrunch covers the business of money: the banks, fintech companies, private credit funds and regulators that determine how capital moves and what it costs.

What we cover

We report on financial institutions and the rules they operate under. In practice that means 5 desks: Markets, Economy, Fintech, Private Credit, Regulation. Each desk is staffed by a named reporter, and each story carries the desk that produced it.

We are interested in mechanics rather than sentiment. That means we would rather explain how a lending product is structured, what a rule proposal actually changes, or which positions have to unwind around an earnings date, than characterize a single day's market move. Where we cannot establish something, we say so in the story.

Who we are

FinCrunch was founded in 2024 and is published by FinCrunch Media in New York. The newsroom is 7 people: the full masthead is here, with contact details for every reporter and editor.

Editorial decisions are made by the editor-in-chief. A separate standards editor reviews stories before publication, handles reader complaints, and owns the corrections log — deliberately kept distinct from the desks producing the reporting.

How we are funded

We are funded by advertising and by sponsored placements, including the format we label Company Spotlight. We do not currently charge for access.

That funding model creates an obvious conflict, and we would rather describe it plainly than leave it implied. Some of the companies that pay us also appear in our coverage. Our response is disclosure at the point of reading rather than a policy statement buried in a footer.

One disclosure is worth stating here as well: HL Hunt Financial, which appears in our Fintech coverage, is affiliated with this publication. Articles about HL Hunt are labeled Company Spotlight and are not independent editorial coverage.

Our standards

Our editorial standards set out how we source stories, when we grant anonymity, how we handle numbers we cannot verify, and what separates reporting from commercial content. Our corrections policy explains what we do when we get something wrong, which we log rather than quietly amend.

Nothing we publish is investment advice. We report on companies and markets; we do not recommend positions, and no one on staff should be read as endorsing a security.
