Privacy policy

Information you give us. If you email us, we receive your address and whatever you write. If you send a story tip, we hold it under the source-protection rules in our editorial standards.

Information collected automatically. Our hosting provider records standard server log data — IP address, user agent, requested URL, referrer and timestamp — as part of serving and securing the site.

Analytics. We use aggregate analytics to understand which articles are read. We do not build advertising profiles of individual readers and we do not sell reader data.

To deliver the site, keep it available and secure, understand in aggregate what coverage is useful, respond to your messages, and comply with legal obligations. We do not use reader data to decide what to report.

We use only the cookies needed to operate the site and to measure aggregate traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site remains readable without them.

We share data with service providers who operate the site on our behalf — hosting, content delivery, analytics and email — under contracts limiting them to that purpose.

Advertisers and sponsors do not receive reader data from us. A sponsored placement is a placement, not an audience handover. See the advertising policy.

We disclose information where legally required. If we receive a demand for material that could identify a confidential source, we will resist it to the extent the law allows.

Server logs are retained for a limited operational period and then discarded. Correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle the matter and to maintain an editorial record — including corrections, where the record itself is the point.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to certain processing. Write to privacy@fincrunch.example and we will respond within the period the applicable law requires.

One limit worth stating plainly: a request to delete personal data is not a route to removing accurate published journalism. Where the two conflict, we weigh the request against the public interest in the reporting remaining available, and we will explain our reasoning.

This is a publication for a professional audience. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

If we make a material change we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
