Robinhood Ventures invests $30 million in digital bank Erebor
The preferred-stock investment supports a nationally chartered, FDIC-insured bank focused on infrastructure for AI, defense, robotics and crypto-related businesses.

Robinhood Ventures Fund I announced October 21 that it had invested $30 million in Erebor Bank through a purchase of preferred stock. The transaction closed September 17, according to the announcement.
Erebor is a nationally chartered, FDIC-insured digital bank founded in 2025. It provides financial infrastructure for businesses in sectors including artificial intelligence, defense, robotics and crypto-related businesses, with services described as including stablecoin payments and blockchain-enabled financing.
A venture investment can strengthen a young bank’s capital base and product development capacity, but it does not change the basic distinction between bank deposits, stablecoins and blockchain-based financing. Customers should evaluate the exact product, applicable protections, counterparty risks and terms rather than infer them from the investor announcement.
The announcement did not disclose a new valuation, revenue target or timetable for additional products. The $30 million figure describes Robinhood Ventures’ investment, not a guarantee of customer returns or future bank performance.
