Numeral raises $100 million Series C to expand AI-powered sales tax compliance
The round, led by Insight Partners with participation from Salesforce Ventures and Y Combinator, brings the company's total funding to $157 million as it expands nexus monitoring and filing coverage beyond its current 90-plus countries.

Numeral, an AI-powered sales tax compliance platform founded in 2023, announced on September 23 that it closed a $100 million Series C round led by Insight Partners, with participation from Salesforce Ventures, Geodesic, Benchmark, Mayfield, FCVC, Y Combinator and Uncork Capital. The round brings the company's total funding to $157 million.
Numeral provides end-to-end sales tax compliance for businesses, including nexus monitoring — tracking where a company has crossed the transaction or revenue thresholds that trigger a tax-collection obligation in a given jurisdiction — along with tax calculation, return filing, and VAT and GST support across more than 90 countries.
The company said it plans to use the new capital to accelerate product development, expand into new industries, and grow its team, though it did not disclose specific hiring targets or a timeline for the expansion. Numeral did not disclose a post-money valuation for the round.
Sales tax compliance has drawn increasing venture investment as e-commerce and multi-state or multi-country selling have made manual tax tracking increasingly error-prone for growing businesses, a problem that has historically been addressed by incumbents like Avalara and Vertex before a newer wave of AI-native platforms began competing for the same customers.
