Mastercard and BVNK launched the Global Money Platform on October 15, a payments API for enterprises and fintechs that need to hold, convert and spend fiat and stablecoin balances.

The platform is powered by BVNK infrastructure and connects to Mastercard Move for payouts into local bank accounts. The companies say the network is designed to reach more than 200 countries and territories and support more than 40 currencies, though the broader coverage is targeted for expansion in 2027.

The product aims to make stablecoin balances usable within ordinary treasury and payout operations rather than requiring a business to build separate rails for digital assets and local-currency disbursements. The practical value will depend on supported assets, conversion costs, compliance coverage and settlement timing in each corridor.

The launch does not eliminate the operational distinction between a stablecoin balance and a bank deposit. Enterprises still need to understand custody, redemption, transaction monitoring, sanctions controls and the counterparties responsible for each leg of a payment.
