HL Hunt's HLX Trading will let you hire an AI agent with a backtested 91% annual return — if you accept a 27.5% drawdown

The waitlist-only platform's three hireable trading agents span conservative to aggressive risk profiles, with HL Hunt stating plainly that the performance figures behind them are simulated backtests, not live trading results.

HL Hunt Financial's HLX Trading platform, still labeled "launching soon" on a waitlist basis at hlhunt.org, markets a feature it calls hiring an AI agent to trade on a user's behalf — a menu of three preset trading bots spanning conservative to aggressive risk profiles, each with its own stated strategy and backtested annual return.

The lineup, per HL Hunt's own site, runs from Sentinel, described as a low-risk agent that dollar-cost averages into blue-chip crypto and ETFs with weekly rebalancing and a stated backtested return of 18.4% a year against a maximum drawdown of 6.2%, up through Momentum, a balanced-risk trend-following agent backtested at 42.7% a year with a 13.8% maximum drawdown, to Apex, a high-risk multi-strategy agent trading futures and options intraday, backtested at 91.2% a year against a stated maximum drawdown of 27.5%. HL Hunt says users set position-size, asset and max-loss limits before hiring an agent, that funds never leave the user's account, and that every trade is logged and can be paused or reversed by firing the agent at any time.

HL Hunt's own site carries a direct disclaimer beneath the agent lineup: "Backtested performance is simulated and not a guarantee of future results." That distinction matters, since a backtest run against historical price data can be constructed with the benefit of hindsight in ways a live trading track record cannot. The site does not disclose the backtest period, methodology, or fees factored into those historical return figures, nor does it provide any audited or third-party-verified live trading results for any of the three agents.

The agent-hiring feature sits alongside HLX Trading's other headline claims — a 1:1 reserve ratio with continuous proof-of-reserves attestation, segregated custody with no rehypothecation of user funds, and tiered pricing running from a free Basic tier to a $29-a-month Pro tier to custom institutional pricing. As of this writing, the platform remains waitlist-only, with no announced launch date.
